Welcome to Veda
Veda is a writing assistant for Mac and Windows. Tap one key in any app and what you typed is cleaned up — or your reply is drafted — in your own voice.
Veda lives in your menu bar (Mac) or system tray (Windows). There's no text to copy anywhere. You write where you always write — Slack, Gmail, Notion, Jira, a browser tab — and when you want help, you tap one key.
What one key does
What happens depends on what's in the box when you tap it:
- The box is empty — Veda reads the conversation on screen and drafts your reply.
- There's text in the box — it's cleaned up: grammar, spelling and phrasing fixed, your words and meaning kept.
- Some text is selected — only the selection is rewritten; the rest stays exactly as it is.
Two more gestures on the same key:
- Hold it for half a second and let go to open Edit mode: a small command bar with one-click presets like Shorten or Formal, or any instruction you type.
- Double-tap it to dictate. Talk naturally, tap once when you're done, and Veda writes it up the way you'd have typed it. Your voice is turned into text on your own computer.
- Double-tap it with no text box in focus to ask Veda about your work or the window in front of you.
The trigger key is right Option on a Mac and Right Ctrl on Windows. You can change it — see The Veda key.
What makes it different
- It sounds like you. Veda learns your writing style from the messages you edit before sending. Tell it about you in a few taps; what you tell it always wins.
- It knows where you are. A chat reply, an email, a doc and a ticket comment each get the style that place expects — see App-aware writing.
- It replies like a person. Drafted replies answer the last message, don't recap the thread and don't make things up — see Replies.
- It keeps your words private. Text is read only when you press the key, and it's never stored on our server — see Privacy.
Beyond the key
Open Veda's window (click the Veda icon, then Open Veda) for the rest:
- Memory — Veda remembers the conversations it sees, encrypted on your computer, so replies know who you're talking to.
- Ask Veda (the box at the bottom of Home) and Brief — what's waiting on you, what you said you'd do, and answers with their sources.
- Meetings — connect a calendar for your week, and a countdown before each meeting and a card when it starts, with who's in it and the call link.
- Meeting notes — notes from the call you're on, with no bot joining and no audio kept.
Where to start
- Install Veda on your Mac or PC — it takes a couple of minutes.
- Try your first rewrite.
- Skim Keyboard shortcuts so the gestures stick.
